Hook @hoookart first caught the public attention when he was named Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the year in 2014.

Since then he’s painted some of the biggest household names including Dame Judi Dench, Sir Richard Branson, Sir Ian McKellen and Amir Khan.

This enthralling exhibition fulfils Claude Monet’s unfulfilled ambition of showing this extraordinary group of paintings in London, and just 300 metres from The Savoy Hotel @thesavoylondon where many of them were painted.
The leading artist of French Impressionist movement changed the course of modern art.

1. Monet always visited London in winter to capture the light and mist.
2. He shipped back home over 100 canvasses and completed 367 works - 21 are represented in this show.

HORRIBLE PAINTING’ found by junk dealer claimed by experts as original PICASSO worth £5 Million - we love this kind of story!
Luigi Lo Rosso a junk dealer in Capri, found the artwork while clearing out a cellar in 1962, and he hung in his living room. His wife thought it ‘horrible’ and the family wanted to get rid of it. However, his son saw the signature in an encyclopaedia, and for years believed it could be the same in the painting - he eventually contacted experts for advice.

Following months of investigations, graphologist, Cinzia Altieri, a member of the scientific committee of the Arcadia Foundation, confirmed the signature in the top left hand corner, was Pablo Picasso’s. It is believed to be an original image of DOORA MAAR painted 1930-1936.
The Picasso Foundation in Malaga will have the final word on its authenticity.

We “love these kinds of stories and reminded me of the famous episode from ONLY FOOLS & HORSES “Time on Our Hands" the episode in December 1996 - the Trotters finally become millionaires - 24 million people watched it.

In the winter of 1899, the French painter Claude Monet first set up his easel on the balcony of his suite at the Savoy, the view across the river now dominated by the Royal Festival Hall, the Hayward Gallery and the National Theatre was a crush of factories billowing filth, smoke and steam from giant chimneys, accompanied, you can only imagine, by a cacophony of humans, animals and machines - Monet loved the atmosphere and light. @courtauld @danieleryman
