DAVID HOCKNEY invites us to embrace art and tranquillity in his new exhibition

I thoroughly enjoyed reviewing and presenting on my show and in the News; The Art Review, London Live TV ‘Hockney and Piero: a Longer Look’ from the National Gallery in London. It is a unique showcase intertwining Hockney’s personal works with the Renaissance masterpiece 'Baptism of Christ' by Piero della Francesca, which has had such a profound positive influence on his work.

The Renaissance masterpiece by Piero della Francesca’s - ‘Baptism of Christ’ which takes place in the river Jordan, angels standing to the side and a dove spreading its wings over his head. Piero is one of the most admired 15th-century Italian painters. It’s an extraordinary work created around 1440.

‘My Parents’ and ‘Looking at Pictures on a Screen’ both include images of paintings from the National Gallery, a place Hockney knows and has loved throughout his long career. The artists whose portraits and landscapes line the walls are to him, his contemporaries. Their paintings inspire him today as much as any other influence on his work. This is such an enjoyable and inspiring show.

Hockney's admiration for artistry shines through in 'My Parents' and 'Looking at Pictures on a Screen' which depicts his friend Henry Geldzahler and National Gallery treasures. For Hockney, the magic of viewing art is ever-present, whether in a gallery or at home.

Experience the mesmerizing blend of past and present at the National Gallery until October 27th, enjoy a moment there of artistic brilliance with ‘Hockney and Piero: a Longer Look’.

I give it 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
