At the Press View of this year's Summer Exhibition, at the Ryal Academy of Arts in London, I interviewed Sinta Berry, Managing Curator, about the vision, selection process and work behind this remarkable annual showcase.
More than 18,000 artists applied from around the world this year, with the judging panel selecting approximately 1,800 works for exhibition. Bringing together emerging artists alongside established names, the Summer Exhibition continues to offer a fascinating snapshot of contemporary art and creativity today.
As part of my ongoing interviews for The Art Review, it was a pleasure to gain insight into what makes this exhibition such an enduring success and a highlight of London's cultural season.
I'd be interested to hear your thoughts: what do you think makes a truly great exhibition?
Warmest regards
James
