Vlastimil Beránek

Widely regarded as one of the greatest living masters of Bohemian crystal glass, Vlastimil Beránek represents the pinnacle of glass artistry on the world stage.

Born in 1960 in Nové Město na Moravě, Czech Republic, Beránek is a third-generation glass master whose family founded the iconic Škrdlovice glassworks in the 1940s. His artistic training began at the Academy of Applied Arts in Prague under the legendary professor and sculptor Stanislav Libenský—a towering figure in Czech glass history.

Beránek describes himself as a sculptor of glass “between fire and ocean.” His large-scale, mixed-media works are renowned for their power, purity, and poetic presence.

His work is defined by clarity, simplicity, and precision—pushing the very boundaries of what is technologically achievable. Free of noise or excess, each sculpture is a study in elegant restraint.

While glass remains at the heart of his practice, Beránek also works with stone, bronze, exotic hardwoods, and precious metals. Every artwork is unique, signed, and certificated. He also welcomes commissions in bespoke colours or materials.

Inspired deeply by the sea, his sculptures often echo the mystery and movement of the ocean's depths. Another recurring muse is smoke—that ephemeral moment when a match is extinguished, yet a final wisp of light spirals upward into darkness.

Vlastimil Beránek’s work is more than sculpture—it is an experience of silence, strength, and serenity in form.
