I had such an interesting interview with Dr. Ernst Vegelin Van Claerbergen, Head of the Courtauld Gallery, for The Art Review, about this truly extraordinary exhibition -
For the first time, a number of works from the Oskar Reinhart Collection at The Courtauld Gallery for an unmissable showcase of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist masterpieces.
This landmark exhibition brings together Goya, Monet, Renoir, Van Gogh, Picasso, Cézanne, and more.
A Tale of Two Collectors - The Oskar Reinhart Collection ‘Am Römerholz’ is widely regarded as one of Europe’s greatest private art collections, spanning Old Masters to Impressionism. Oskar Reinhart (1885-1965) was a direct contemporary of Samuel Courtauld, and the two collectors shared an uncannily similar taste in artists. In fact, they first met in 1932—the very year The Courtauld was founded.
Now, these two visionary collections intersect once more in an exhibition that is nothing short of a masterpiece in itself.
The exhibition is on until 26 May. My rating: 5 stars—an absolute must-see!
Best wishes
