Inside Hepworth in Colour: New Perspectives on a British Icon

I had the pleasure of interviewing Dr Alexandra Gerstein, Co-Curator of Hepworth in Colour at The Courtauld Gallery for The Art Review.

This exceptional exhibition offers a fascinating reassessment of Barbara Hepworth, exploring the vital role colour played throughout her artistic practice and challenging many long-held perceptions of her work.

Through insightful curatorial research and a remarkable selection of works, visitors are invited to see one of Britain's most celebrated sculptors in an entirely new light.

A particularly memorable part of our conversation came when Dr Gerstein and Dr Stephen Feeke PhD learned that my wife, Danièle Ryman, had first come to London from Paris as an apprentice to the legendary aromatherapist Marguerite Maury, among whose clients was Barbara Hepworth herself. Daniele's recollections of Hepworth's kindness added a rare and personal dimension to an exhibition already rich with insight.

Congratulations to Dr Alexandra Gerstein, Dr Stephen Feeke and The Courtauld Gallery on a beautifully curated and thought-provoking exhibition that deepens our understanding of Barbara Hepworth's artistic vision and enduring legacy.

A must-see exhibition for anyone interested in modern British art.
